The effective functioning of CEWERUs is of high priority for purposes of efficiency and transparency for the mechanism. Due to structural issues and none functioning of CEWERUs CEWARN embarked on reconstitution and revitalization of CEWERU steering committees. Reasons including staff turnover, demands of the new strategy, and changing peace and security landscape, there came a need to review and strengthen capacities of CEWERUs from time to time to effectively deliver on their mandates. However, undertaking this particular activity has not been easy given the member states bureaucracy and red tape coupled with COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant restrictions. As result now all the CEWERUs reconstituted and revitalized their steering committees.
